History of EnFloTech
EnFloTech, formerly known as Coal Milling Projects (CMP), was founded in 1997 by Andrew Robinson, Dave Mckay, and Kotie Steyn.
Early 2000s:
EnFloTech signed a license agreement for high-performance rotating throats and classifiers, enhancing its service to improve milling plant performance. The company further developed these technologies and secured patents, adapting the designs to meet more challenging coal and mill metrology. Today, EnFloTech holds patents in numerous countries worldwide.
2004:
In 2004, EnFloTech achieved a major milestone by securing its first major contract for the modification and refurbishment of coal mills at a power station that had been in storage for over 15 years. This success initiated a period of rapid growth for the company.
By 2007:
EnFloTech became the Sub-Saharan Africa agents for Merrick feeders. Merrick, founded in 1908 by Herbert Merrick and based in Lynn Haven, Florida, was acquired by General Signal in 1987 and is part of the Stock Equipment Company, known for supplying feeders to major power stations like Duvha, Kriel, Kendal, Lethabo, Matla, and Matimba.
2008:
EnFloTech recognised the expertise and potential of Aljimm Engineering and acquired a majority shareholding. Originally founded in 1989 by Frank Lloyd, Jimmy Lloyd and Albert Lloyd, Aljimm Engineering established itself as a trusted engineering and fabrication firm in the Vaal Triangle. This strategic partnership led to the company’s rebranding as CMP Aljimm Engineering, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter characterised by growth, innovation, and industry leadership.
Today, as a key part of the EnFloTech Group, CMP Aljimm Engineering continues to strengthen its presence, particularly within the mining sector and across various engineering industries, leveraging its extensive expertise in fabrication, manufacturing, and maintenance to optimise the efficiency and performance of critical components and solutions.
2015:
Lutinsi Engineering was established as a 51% Black-owned company following its acquisition as the machine shop division within the EnFloTech Group. Specialising in the refurbishment and fabrication of industrial and mechanical components, Lutinsi Engineering serves a diverse client base across the mining, power generation, and petrochemical sectors, as well as project houses, private industry, and international export markets. Combining advanced engineering expertise with state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities, Lutinsi Engineering consistently delivers high-quality, industry-leading solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of its clients.
2016:
EnFloTech signed an agreement with Synergy (Australia) to advance the development of the Desander. This post-milling, pre-combustion beneficiation process is designed to remove abrasive minerals and pyritic sulphur from coal, enhancing plant reliability and sustainability.
2017:
EnFloTech completed its first coal-to-biomass conversion by converting the mills at Drax, the largest biomass station at the time, to run successfully on biomass white pellets. This achievement established EnFloTech as the industry leader in coal-to-biomass conversions.
2022:
The company rebranded from Coal Milling Projects (CMP) to Energy Flow Technologies (EnFloTech) to better reflect its current focus and future direction.
2023:
EnFloTech acquired the intellectual property from Lockhyd, enabling the company to manufacture and refurbish coal mill pneumatic loading cylinders and associated equipment.
Present:
EnFloTech operates site offices at several power stations and maintains its head office and manufacturing facilities in Duncanville, Vereeniging. With its comprehensive value chain, including in-house fabrication and machining shops, EnFloTech is strategically positioned as a leading multinational enterprise.
