Isolating dampers and gates

Burner/PF pipe isolating dampers are designed to isolate the mill and its associated components from the operational boiler, preventing potential flashbacks through the pulverised fuel pipes.

For this reason, burner isolators are positioned as close to the boiler as possible. These isolators are closed during maintenance on the mill internals, as well as the primary air and pulverised fuel systems. Orifices are often installed in pulverised fuel pipes to balance pressure and offset differences in total pipe length between the fuel pipes connected to each mill. The burner isolators are designed to accommodate an orifice plate within the housing.

PF pipe isolating dampers comply with National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) code requirements, being designed for 350 kPa service and tested at 1,400 kPa.

EnFloTech has developed a range of isolating gates tailored to meet specific customer requirements. These gates operate outside the coal stream, preventing contamination of the slide area and avoiding the restrictions commonly found in other designs used for similar applications.

The isolating gates are engineered with consideration for coal flow and pressure head requirements. They undergo numerical evaluation using flow and structural modelling to ensure continuous coal flow and durability. These gates can be manually operated or actuated depending on design specifications.

In summary, EnFloTech’s isolating dampers and gates provide effective solutions for ensuring safety, operational efficiency, and long-term reliability in fossil fuel-fired power plants.
